"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority ... the Constitution was made to guard against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." - Noah Webster

"There is no worse tyranny than forcing a man to pay for what he does not want just because you think it would be good for him."

How we got here

ATTENTION:  This is reposted with corrections for the videos and other little details.

If I was forced to blame the current economic recession, malaise, problems (use whatever term you like) on only one thing, it would be ignorance of most of the people.  Ignorance of both history and economics.  And I do mean real economics and not Keynesian theory, which is why I say both history and economics. History proves which economic models work and which ones don't.

Notice the fact that the largest reserves of petroleum energy in the world, more than all of the middle east and Venezuela combined, is laying underneath United States territory. The only close second is Russia, providing 90% of Europe's oil.

By the way: you won't find this information easily on the internet anymore.
The above image is from 2011.  Such info has mysteriously vanished from most sites.  Just like some of my info on this blog has mysteriously vanished.

Thanks to Jerome Corsi's book on the oil conspiracy, we can now know what most of the rest of the world knows: that petroleum is abiogenic. There is no such thing as "fossil fuel."  Crude oil and natural gas are not made from formerly living things, but by a chemical process in the earth's crust that a couple of Nazi scientists discovered during or before WWII.

We have the greatest technology. We have the greatest basic infrastructure.  We have no lack of consumers who would be happy to purchase goods made right here on American soil.

We have plenty of scientists who know that we could build incredibly safe reactors that would use super cheap and abundant thorium.  Before you watch the video, I want to make a couple of points.  About 40,000 people die every year in the U.S. in vehicle accidents.  About 800,000 people die from standard, non-malpractice medical care.  Just to help you keep the deaths from coal in proper perspective.

Of course that's not the only way to improve our energy situation. The bloom box.

But of course, this government would rather throw money down the black holes of solar panels (Remember Solyndra?) Or windmills that nobody wants (NIMBY).

But I say all that to get to the question: What's the real reason we are in this situation?

No Excuses

There are no excuses for why we are paying the kinds of prices at the pump for gasoline and for propane and natural gas for our homes.  As I've posted before, the United States is sitting on more oil reserves than the rest of the OPEC nations combined.

Now comes this article from Salon online that confirms what I have believed for years, based on my studies on geology as a creationist.  Go read the article.  Keep in mind that Salon is anything but a right-wing or Christian publication in any way, shape, or form.

Also keep in mind that the massive earthquake in Japan has proven that we can build reasonably safe nuclear plants.  If you are one of those people who thinks that everything has to be totally, completely safe from all possible disasters, SHUT UP, sit down, and be quiet, the rational adults are talking here.  I've never heard so much unscientific, irrational nonsense as the hysteria that has resulted from the earthquakes in Japan regarding nuclear power.

If you are not intellectually capable of understanding the technology at it's simplest, then you should be paying $12 per gallon of gas, and you might need to move to a country that accommodates your silliness.  But make sure it's not France, since 90% of their electricity comes from nuclear power. You might want to check all those countries in Eurabia for that same reason.

Oil of Madness

Quick.  Which country in the world has the most oil beneath it's land and territorial waters?

Which country in the world has enough coal for generating very affordable electricity for the next 200 or more years?

Which country in the whole world has not built a single nuclear reactor for generating power in over thirty years while many other nations produce as much as 90% of their electricity that way with no safety problems?

Yep.  Same country.

Which country in the entire world has such a perfect safety record with nuclear power at sea for over half a century, that all of its aircraft carriers, submarines, and now cruisers and destroyers are all being run on nuclear power?

Yep.  Same country.

Source article here.

If you think that "Big Oil" is to blame for you not being able to afford fuel at the pump, you probably also believe that movie actors want to see the prices at the box office get ridiculously expensive as well.

If you believe that it makes sense to shut down all drilling and oil recovery in all the coastal waters of the U.S. because of one rig exploding, you probably think it's a good idea to recall all cars made by GM because one had a mechanical failure that caused an accident.

You probably also believe that carbon dioxide causes earth's atmosphere to heat up.

You probably also believe that your plants understand you when you talk.

One Man's Trash . . .

is another man's treasure.

But seriously, here is a link about a Japanese man and his invention that converts plastic back into oil. Or mostly does so. It is a video that is only about 5 minutes. It is well worth watching even with the English subtitles.  Now, greenies and tree huggers will probably find this to be an onanistic delight.  But me, being my analytical and skeptical self --  well, I've got several questions.  First, the video seems to be produced by some United Nations University, ostensibly a subsidiary of that vile organization.  That makes the whole thing suspect right there.

For a brief moment you can see the temperature gauges on the machine and the readings are around 350° C, which is about 660° F.  It takes a considerable amount of fuel to create and maintain that level of heat.  The video never tells us what the fuel is or how long it takes or how much fuel or BTUs or joules it takes to convert how many pounds or ounces into oil.  This is important.  Would you ever buy such a machine and run it at your house if it cost you $30 worth of propane or gas or whatever to convert a couple of bags of your plastic garbage into $3 worth of oil?

If after the initial conversion of an amount of oil, that oil could be used to power the unit for subsequent conversions and then the garbage itself provided all the fuel, that would make a bit more sense.  But if that's all the machine did, you'd be pretty crazy to spend several thousand dollars on a machine that doesn't pay for itself, let alone make money.  You see, if the machine was cost effective, some private company would market it in a heartbeat.  Due to the Second Law of Thermodynamics, the machine would need maintenance, and a whole big money making market would grow exponentially out of that.

But the video unfortunately focuses on the global warming hoax.  The ridiculous idea that we need to reduce CO2 emissions.  In case you missed my previous post mentioning this; the current estimated CO2 level is about .0385% of our atmosphere.  That's very low.  We would have much better plant growth and crop yields if the level were closer to a full 4 percent.  Shoot, it doesn't even begin to get difficult to breathe until you exceed 7 percent.  The price of corn has shot up again in the past month due to this insane idea of making ethanol.  This is an extremely inefficient use of a food product which is hurting the poor people who rely on corn as a staple of their diet.

Am I against the machine?  Of course not, if it can be made cost efficient. If all it did was pay for itself it would be worth it to drastically reduce landfill space.  I'm all for reduce, re-use, re-cycle.  Twyla and I save every scrap of paper and cardboard because it becomes weed-barrier mulch in the garden.  I don't use those plastic bags in the produce section of the grocery store, I just put the unpackaged produce in my cart and carry it home.  Every scrap of organic material goes into the compost bin.  We strive to have as little trash as possible.

We have more oil sitting under the plains States here in the USA, than what exists under the entire Arabian peninsula, according to expert testimony before the US Senate.  Yet we will continue to buy oil from a regime that funds Wahabi extremist Muslim terrorism because of a lie, and because of environmental nutjobs and "progressives".  Ignorance is bliss only until you see the train bearing down on you. Ignorance is actually a dangerous thing.

That is all.
